Third party car insurance covers only your liability for injury to others (including passengers) and damage to other people’s property. Third party does NOT cover damage to your own person, car, or property. You can however, purchase additional coverage against fire, theft, and windscreen damage that might happen to your car.
Comprehensive insurance covers everything third party does PLUS the damage to your own car caused by any of the following:
- Accident,
- Fire and Theft,
- Hurricane and Flood,
- Windscreen damage
With comprehensive insurance, you have the option of waiving certain coverages. For example, if you want to waive hurricane protection, you can do that and pay a lower premium.
Comprehensive insurance does NOT cover the insured driver's medical bills in the event of a car accident.
