You may cancel the policy by giving us notice in writing. Provided there are no claims (paid or outstanding during the current period of insurance) and provided also that you return the current certificate of insurance to us on or before the date that you want the policy cancelled, then we will return to you such portion of the premium as is determined by our short period rates which are in force at the time of your cancelling.
